Scripture:

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.
                                                                                                                Psalm 1: 1-5

Observation:

I see this passage reflecting on life in general. It is telling me that I should not associate closely with people that do not believe in God. We are told to also stay away from evil things. My JOY should be in the Lord. This passage is in Psalm 1 written by David. He states that we should meditate of the law day and night. The Law was the first 5 books of the Old Testament written by Moses. We are to think and ponder on the history and the law of Israel, or Jewish law. In Bible times the people would use repetition and/ or chanting in the Temple/Synagogue. There are many songs written about the tree planted by the water. Trees that are planted by water are strong and get a lot of nourishment. This is telling God's children to also BE strong in the Lord. If someone does all these things, it says he will prosper. This could mean success in family, work, children, relationships, health and other concerns. We must stand strong in the Lord and grow in order to be successful in life.
